Design Principles
Birdpaper UI is guided by four core values—Simple, Consistent, Natural, and Grow (SANG). They reinforce one another and together shape a cohesive, well-balanced component library.
Simple
Consistent
Natural
Grow
The best design is the one that does not over-design.
Simplify ruthlessly. Remove noise, clarify interaction logic, and cut user effort while improving the experience. Every element should earn its place — if removing it does not hurt understanding or action, it should not exist.
Key Ideas
Less is more
Every pixel should have a reason; avoid decorative noise.
Focus attention
Use hierarchy so the most important content is seen first.
Reduce noise
Keep paths clear and avoid flashy distractions.
Design Guidelines
- Prefer whitespace over dividers to separate regions.
- Keep interactive elements restrained — show only when needed.
- Write concise copy; avoid redundant explanations.
- Use visual weight to guide attention.
How the Values Relate
These four values are not isolated — they form one coherent system.
